In 1994 William Cope Moyers lay on the floor of an Atlanta crack house as his worried family searched for him. From that lowly, drug-hazed night, Moyers went on to become an executive at the Hazelden Foundation and the bestselling author of "Broken: My Story of Addiction and Redemption." Moyers travels widely to talk about addiction and treatment and has dedicated his recovery to changing the politics of addiction and helping others talk to their kids about addiction.
"Broken" tells the story of what happened between then and now-from growing up the privileged son of journalist Bill Moyers to his descent into alcoholism and drug addiction. Moyers story is harrowing and wrenching and ultimately hopeful.
Moyers' visit is made possible by Blake counselors in partnership with the Blake Parent Association. If you have questions about this event, please contact Blake PK-12 Director of Counseling Erin Adams.
