The Impact of Financial Assistance
Blake's financial assistance program helps talented and committed students from throughout the Twin Cities participate in Blake experiences in and beyond the classroom. Twenty-two percent of Blake students receive need-based financial assistance through one of the largest independent school financial assistance programs in the Midwest.
Blake families share in their own words what matters most to them about Blake as a school and a community.
"An excellent opportunity"
Blake has provided an excellent opportunity for my daughter to not just learn and grow but thrive.
Without the financial assistance we receive it would be almost impossible for me to afford to send my daughter to Blake. With it, I can afford to maintain a reasonable set of experiences (athletics, travel) that would not be possible otherwise.
I think it is the overall environment, with many aspects working together, that makes Blake the special place it is.

"As parents, we feel part of the Blake community"
Blake provides exceptional educational experiences and dedicated teachers for our children to develop, to fully explore their talents and interests and to express themselves. Blake prepares them for success in life.
Financial assistance plays a key role in achieving our children's educational dreams. We appreciate Blake's investment in our children and their future.
Blake is welcoming, caring and challenging and nurtures children through general core curriculum as well as extracurricular activities. The teachers engage students with creative thinking and the desire to learn and try different things, and students get more individual attention in class.
As parents, we feel part of the Blake community and our children's education through open communication and parental involvement in different activities and initiatives.

"Blake has given her the opportunity to stretch her academic wings"
Our daughter Sierra wasn't challenged at her local high school and was very bored in class. She took it upon herself to research other options and found Blake to be at the top of the list. Blake has given her the opportunity to stretch her academic wings. She's challenged and engaged in her studies. She takes her education seriously and is happy with her Blake experience.
Financial assistance has made it possible for our daughter to attend Blake. Quite simply without financial assistance she wouldn't be at Blake. She values, as do my wife and I, the opportunities that come to her at Blake. Just a couple weeks ago, financial assistance allowed her to travel with her debate team to Harvard University for a competition. We are grateful to Blake's financial assistance program for these opportunities.
The Blake community has been warm and inviting. Everyone has been helpful in answering questions and providing information. We've enjoyed meeting other parents at Blake events.

"Blake cares about us as whole people"
The Blake community has felt like a second family to us. We have made friendships that will last a lifetime with faculty, staff, students and parents. Blake has provided a very safe, welcoming environment for each of us. We always feel like Blake cares about us as whole people and has definitely impacted all of us beyond the classroom.
Financial assistance has made it possible for each one of the girls to go abroad. Taylor went to Ecuador to build a school over her spring break. Lauren spent a few weeks in Cape Town, South Africa. Maddy attended the Island School on a scholarship for fall semester of her junior year, while I continued to pay Blake tuition (affordable), and then was able to transfer her credits on her return to Blake for spring semester.
We feel very fortunate to be a part of the Blake community. What makes it unique are the shared values that bring everyone together. Even though we are drawing from a diverse population, we all believe in the importance of a rigorous academic, social and emotional environment where our children can thrive.
Taylor and Lauren both began in pre-K and then graduated from Blake. Maddy joined as a sixth grader. What I found incredible was the fact that her transition was so easy. Within two weeks, she felt like she had been there all along. I attribute that to the very close, values-driven community.

"Our daughter is becoming a better global citizen"
Our daughter Kimora is coming into full bloom at Blake. She joined the Blake family in sixth grade after attending public school her entire life, and it opened her eyes to a new world of academic and social experiences. She is more curious and aware of the world around her and her place in it. She is growing into a confident young woman who understands the importance of inclusive communities and is a great role model for her younger siblings. We believe that through Blake, our daughter is becoming a better global citizen.
Receiving financial assistance has afforded us the opportunity to send our daughter to Blake. The Blake team and faculty have been very supportive and fully invested in the education and growth of our daughter.
We have found the Blake community to very inclusive, welcoming and committed to the success of all students and families. We are very fortunate to have found such a cohesive and amazing team of educators and are thankful our daughter can now call Blake home.
