Rita Khan '92

This edition of the popular Breakfast at Blake speaker series features Rita Khan '92. During her talk, "Leading Digital Transformation in Health Care," she shared Mayo Clinic’s approach to digital transformation—people first, experience-centric, outcomes-oriented. By leveraging data, technology and the human experience, Mayo Clinic continues to focus on its primary value—the needs of the patient come first.

Rita Khan was named chief digital officer of Mayo Clinic in 2020. She is responsible for delivering an integrated digital strategy and creating a sustainable infrastructure that shapes the future of health care delivery at Mayo Clinic and across the world. Khan also leads Mayo Clinic’s Center for Digital Health, which drives digital transformation with products that span the continuum of care and bring together data, analytics, clinical knowledge, decision support, engagement and guidance tools, combined with virtual solutions and consumer channels, to provide seamless experiences for Mayo Clinic care teams and patients.

Khan is a highly respected leader with more than 20 years of experience in strategic planning, new product definition, consumer experience, omni-channel, data analytics, artificial intelligence and innovation at scale. She is experienced in aligning and mobilizing executive leadership and Mayo Clinic board of trustees on complex business, technology and consumer market trends to meet strategic objectives.

Prior to Mayo Clinic, Khan served as executive vice president for UnitedHealthcare, leading consumer digital transformation. She also has extensive retail industry and ecommerce experience at Digital River Inc., Best Buy, Macy’s and Target Corporation, which has provided critical insights in addressing the changing needs of consumers in healthcare. Khan earned a Master of Business Administration from the Opus College of Business, St. Thomas University and a Bachelor of Arts from Tufts University.

Khan currently serves on the board of directors for Butler/Till as chair of the governance committee. She lives with her husband Jibran in Golden Valley. Her sisters, Turi '96 and Saray '91, are Blake alumnae as well.
