What are your three favorite smells?
Fresh baked bread, gardenias and the beach. I've always enjoyed baking and during the stay-at-home order, we really perfected our repertoire of breads. Growing up in Oregon with a mother who is a master gardener meant fresh flowers on my bedside table and gardenias are my favorite. The real beach. . .this is a smell that can't be bottled or made into a candle or a reed diffuser.

When was the last time you were nervous?
Every time we launch a Zoom webinar, I nervously wait for our attendees to gather and wish for a strong wifi signal for them ;)

What did you want to be when you were small?
I wanted to be an elementary school teacher. I loved all of my elementary school teachers and wanted to be just like them!

If you could visit any place in the world, where would you choose to go and why?
Somewhere I haven't been because I love exploring new places and cultures. My two most recent travels took me to Ireland and the Caribbean. In Ireland we stayed at the most amazing countryside estate, Ballyfin Demesne. In the Caribbean, we saw stunning sunsets, especially in St. Lucia over the pitons.

Who is your hero?
My grandmother. She's 96, lives alone, is an avid reader and a fierce Scrabble player. She also has a joyful outlook on life. She's faced many hardships and continues to seek out the silver lining.

Based on something you’ve already done, how might you make it into the Guinness Book of World Records?
My best chance of being in the Guinness Book of World Records would be for the greatest number of browser windows open at one time. Although I think our Director of Admissions Joe Silvestri may be in competition with me for this title.

If you had one extra hour of free time a day, how would you spend it?
Take a walk around one of the lakes. Regardless of the season, Minneapolis's chain of lakes are so beautiful. I love seeing the art shanties created each winter and nothing beats taking a dip in the lake on the hottest summer days.

What is the first thing you think of when you wake up in the morning? Who took the dog out or do I get to? We welcomed a black lab puppy into our family this year and he's such a love in the morning.
