This summer, 12 Blake Upper School students traveled to Rwanda, including an extended stay in the capital city of Kigali where they learned about the history and legacy of the Rwandan genocide. They also visited parliament, met political leaders, stayed in a village to volunteer at a pre-school, and went on a short safari. A second group of 17 students traveled to Taiwan where they visited the Chiang Kai Shek Memorial Hall, Longshan Temple and the National Palace Museum. They also hiked in Yangmingshan National Park, rode the Maokong Gondola and visited the mountain town of Jiufen, and each student enjoyed a four-day home stay with a Taiwanese family. Both groups participated in a week of pre- and post-travel classroom time in addition to 20 days of travel. See photos and video from their adventures (Rwanda and Taiwan).
