The lead construction team for Blake's Early Learning Center (ELC) was recently recognized with an innovation award from Mortenson Construction.

The award was given for the team's installation of the glu-laminated timber structure that makes up the ELC. This glu-laminated (or glulam) timber is Minnesota-made from recycled wood, which means no old-grow trees needed to be downed to create it. Glulam also allows for very thick beams and is stronger than regular wood.
