Dr. Lisa Damour is the 2025 Northrop and Blake Classes of 1955 speaker. During her visit, the bestselling author will meet with students and educators, and the wider community will have two opportunities to hear her speak.

Damour is the author of three New York Times best sellers: “Untangled,” “Under Pressure” and “The Emotional Lives of Teenagers.” She co-hosts the “Ask Lisa” podcast, works in collaboration with UNICEF and is recognized as a thought leader by the American Psychological Association. Damour is a regular contributor to The New York Times and CBS News and the creator of Untangling 10to20, a digital library of premium content to support teens and those who care for them.

Damour will address how Pixar’s “Inside Out 2” can be a powerful tool to help kids understand, navigate and express their emotions. Building on the beloved original, the sequel introduces new emotional characters and scenarios that resonate with the complex experiences of growing up. 

As a consulting psychologist for the film, Damour will share how we can use scenes to spark meaningful conversations with kids about feelings like joy, sadness, fear, anger and new additions like anxiety or embarrassment.

The Classes of 1955 Speaker Fund gives Blake students, educators, families, alumni and the surrounding local community the opportunity to be exposed to new voices, new ideas and new role models. The program was one of the first to come out of the 1974 merger of Blake’s predecessor institutions, Northrop Collegiate School (for girls) and the Blake School (for boys).
