Eric Liu is the co-founder and CEO of Citizen University, a nonprofit organization that works to build a culture of citizenship across the U.S. He is also the founding director of the Aspen Institute’s Citizenship & American Identity Program and the author of several books including, most recently, “You’re More Powerful Than You Think: A Citizen’s Guide to Making Change Happen.” He has worked in the U.S. Senate and the White House and is a graduate of Yale College and Harvard Law School. As Blake's 2024 Steiner Speaker, Liu will present to Upper School students and visit classrooms on election day.

In his work with communities across the country, Liu talks about what it means to be an engaged American in today’s divisive and divided political landscape. He offers insight on how we can come together to restore hope, revive democracy and feel part of a connected community. And he explores how we can activate our civic power to bypass broken institutions and solve big problems.

"Citizenship doesn't just start or end with voting, says Liu in this short video about his upcoming visit to Blake. "I'm excited to meet with you to keep building on broadening our understanding of what it means to live as a citizen in this moment, in our country, on our planet and for this generation and the next."

Liu’s presentation will be followed by a book signing, and copies of his latest titles will be available for purchase.
