Mary Moulton Putman ʼ92 lives in Louisville, Kentucky, with her husband, Chris. By day, she builds brands and leads marketing at GE Appliances. After hours, she’s chasing endorphins via workouts, collecting life lessons via sports, giving back to her city, and traveling often to soak up time with her beloved mom in Minnesota and staying close to her super stepdaughters, Sara and Rachel—because she’s all in on the big milestones and the in-between moments that matter.
Q: Name five things that make you happy.
A: My husband, Chris, and the people I love (family & friends); a great round of golf (retired tennis player Blake ʼ92/Boston College ʼ96, still competitive); Orange Theory; working with smart, kind humans; making everyday life easier, more beautiful and more joyful for consumers
Q: What are the three values you treasure most in a friendship?
A: Loyalty, honesty, humor. Show up, tell the truth and laugh—especially at yourself (still practicing that one).
Q: What’s your favorite family tradition?
A: Anytime we’re all around the table—holidays, birthdays or a random Sunday—swapping stories, retelling stories and laughing (especially when my bros are around). It keeps me grounded no matter what’s happening at work.
Q: If you are outside, what are you most likely doing?
A: Playing golf (definitely walking—got to get my steps). My best thinking happens somewhere between the tee box and the green, not between four walls and a screen.
Q: What’s your dream job?
A: I’m pretty close to it: chief marketing officer at GE Appliances, helping grow our house of brands—Monogram, Café, GE Profile, GE Appliances, Haier and Hotpoint—while pushing hard into digital and AI to deliver what we promise consumers. It’s the perfect mix of creativity, leadership and real-world impact.
Q: What is one goal you’d like to accomplish during your lifetime?
A: Develop the next generation of courageous, empathetic, strategic brand leaders while staying true to my own priorities: family, health and purpose. My expat years in Geneva, Switzerland shaped how I lead; I’d love to pass that perspective on.
Q: What’s the best concert you’ve ever been to?
A: Coldplay, no contest. The energy, the lights, thousands singing together—unforgettable. Lately, I also love cheering on Spin Cycle, the band my husband sings in with some colleagues and their wives, and I’m the band manager. Proof that community can look like a stage, not just a conference room.
Q: What is the first thing you think of when you wake up in the morning?
A: Coffee. My calendar. My workout. Then: what I’m wearing—style is how I set my intention for the day and decide how I want to show up.
Q: Where do you find inspiration?
A: From travel, my team and consumers. From big moments like [tech trade show] CES and KBIS [Kitchen & Bath Industry Show] and smaller ones like a podcast that hits at the right time. From challenges—half marathons, Ragnar races, even cryotherapy. And from my mom, every day she’s my constant reminder to be strong, curious and a better human. Lastly, my dad’s incredible quotes that keep me going!
Q: If someone rented a billboard for you, what would you put on it?
A: “Lead with courage. Live with gratitude. Improve the everyday.”
Small print: “Take care of your people. Take care of your health. Take care of your home.”
