Deposits, Refunds and Cancellation of Service
Blake's entire transportation team-from your driver to the director-is committed to making your child(ren)'s experience on the bus successful. A successful transportation system is a partnership between families and the School. Families need to determine and commit to transportation services early and embrace the capabilities and limitations of a mass transit system. The School needs to provide a safe, dependable service that clearly outlines its capabilities and commitments up front. To this end, pro-rated refunds are not provided unless the School does not adequately provide effective services.
Blake's Transportation Office reserves the right to cancel bus service in certain areas of the Twin Cities if sufficient riders do not sign up for service. All cancellations will be communicated to those families impacted by the cancellations by August 1 of the upcoming school year.
To sign up for transportation services a non-refundable, $500 deposit must be submitted. The deposit is credited to your overall transportation bill in October. Families who receive need-based financial aid are not required to submit a deposit.
Transportation Information Forms
Student Information & Services and Rates Form
All families must complete this form for every student attending Blake. The information on the front page is critical for us to be able to communicate with you during the school year and complete our attendance reports to districts. This form is due July 1, 2011.
Students who require Blake bus service must also complete the Services and Rates form found on the back of the information form. Be sure to select only one service option. One student per form, please. Parents: be sure to include information and requests for alternate stops or expected frequency changes on this form. Having this information as early in the year as possible will help us plan our routes accordingly. We may not be able to accommodate all requests but will do our best!
Transportation Reimbursement Form
What is reimbursement? Transportation reimbursement is the process by which public school districts distribute funds to private school families who otherwise would have attended their public school. The district applies a reimbursement amount equal to their costs of transporting the student from your residence within their district to the boundary of their district. The private school works directly with each district to apply for reimbursement, establish student rosters and submit attendance lists. Each district's requirements for application and the amount they reimburse are specific to their area's district policies.
Blake retains the reimbursement amount for families who utilize Blake bus service to help cover our operational costs. For families who transport their children to and from school, Blake will credit the amount of the reimbursement to the family's Blake account.
