Overview

At the Upper School

  • Each class has a grade dean who often serves as the first point of contact for a student or family member. The grade dean stays with each class for its tenure at the Upper School. The grade dean responds to most matters concerning the student, directing a student or family to appropriate resources as needed.
  • Each Upper School student meets daily with an assigned advisor, part of whose job is to know each advisee very well.
  • Student Support Team (described above): Members of SST at the Upper School include the assistant Upper School director, the college counselor, the school counselor and the four grade deans.
  • In addition, each fall before school starts grade deans share relevant information or action plans for students who may need specific support at the start of the school year. At the end of the school year, grade deans gather relevant information on students whose record warrants an action plan, either for the summer or upon return in the fall
  • Each spring the school counselors and learning specialists of the Middle and Upper schools meet to transfer appropriate information about identified rising ninth graders.
