Blake Upper School Off-Campus Programs Information Session
An information session for students and parents interested in learning more about off-campus study and service programs will be held at the Upper School on Monday, Oct. 15 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Learn more about the travel abroad and international service opportunities that have distinguished Blake among its peer schools in the areas of international travel/study/service and global citizenship.
There will be a chance to hear from current Blake students who have traveled or studied abroad. In addition, parents of these students will be on hand to share the study or travel abroad experience from their perspective. In addition, representatives from various student exchange programs will provide information and answer questions about their respective program offerings. Some of the programs that will be showcased include Swiss Semester, School Year Abroad (SYA), The School for Ethics and Global Leadership, CITYterm, High Mountain Institute, Island School and Oxbow Art School.
Every year, Blake sponsors several international trips for Upper School students to consider. This year, Blake faculty are planning spring break and summer trips to Brazil, India and Morocco. There will also be an extended summer immersion experience for Spanish-language learners (location TBD). Faculty trip leaders will be available to provide program information and application materials to all interested students and parents.
Of course, the cost of participation is an important factor to consider, and Director of Financial Aid Cheryl Boyd will be available to discuss eligibility for financial assistance. Additionally, all Blake families receiving financial aid will receive a letter outlining the costs of all trips and the financial assistance application process.
We look forward to a full house for this event, so parents and students should plan to arrive early to get a good seat. There will also be light fare available from 6:30-7 p.m.
