Parent Support Group: Student Mental Health
Blake School Counselors (Erin Adams, Jeanette Gadeberg and Jon Halpern) will host a monthly Support Group for parents/guardians whose child or teen who is managing a mental health concern. This group is intended to provide education, resources and parent-to-parent support for parents/guardians who are caring for a child or teen with a range of mental health issues, including (but not limited to) anxiety, obsessive-compulsive disorder, depression, eating disorders and personality disorders. This support group is for parents at all divisions and is a confidential resource.
Topics discussed may include: the journey of diagnosis and treatment, symptom management, academic strategies and supports, secondary behaviors (i.e. risk-taking, self-medication, etc.), parent self-care, co-parenting around a child's needs, and communication / relationship building between parent and child.
We will meet from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the Upper School Campus, room 227, on the following Tuesday evenings:
