LearningWorks Volunteer Opportunities
The mission of Learning Works is "to offer a challenging academic enrichment program to a representative group of motivated, high potential middle school students from Minneapolis Public Schools, setting them on the path to college by preparing them to enter rigorous high school programs; and to draw talented high school and college students into the education field by engaging them in the art of teaching."
Here are two ways you can get involved:
Graduation, March 10. The event is being held from 9am - noon at the Blake Upper School. LW founders, Amie DeHarpporte and John Gulla, will speak at graduation. This dual keynote address will mark an especially poignant moment for LearningWorks in that it will be the last time LW's original architects share the stage before John ends his tenure as Blake's Head of School. This event promises to be both a celebration of this year's graduating class, and a way to honor of the dynamic program that Amie and John jointly created.
Teach an Explorations Class! Do you have a fun skill or talent you’d be willing to teach? LW invites Blake community members to teach four day mini-courses all through the summer, Monday – Thursday (classes are 45 minutes long).
