On Friday, Oct. 6 students (grades 1-12), teachers, staff, alumni and parent volunteers met on the Blake campus in Hopkins for Legacy Day, an annual tradition during which the Blake community gathers together with the common purpose of strengthening commitments to lifelong learning, community service and global citizenship.

The day began with the annual Convocation ceremony. Following the ceremony, Legacy groups spread out around campus to work on service activities. The day ended with a final gathering to celebrate the accomplishments and the connections made.

Fun Facts from Legacy Day 2017:

• Students, volunteers, and staff assembled 60 dressers for families served by Bridging.
• With an assembly line of volunteers 6,000 healthy meals were prepared for distribution for local Minnesota families for Matter.
• Getting familiar with power tools, several Legacy groups worked together to build 68 storage boxes, which will go to new homeowners or sold to raise funds for Twin Cities Habitat for Humanity.
• Artistic inspiration resulted in 393 cards created for Pab's Packs and more than 600 watercolor cards made for senior care facilities and Little Brothers Friends of the Elderly.
• With over 100 volunteers, Legacy Day's success is due to the commitment of our families to create a community of service.
