Announcing the Inaugural Blake Convocation
& Legacy Day Friday, Oct. 6, 2006

Blake will be celebrating its first-ever Convocation & Legacy Day on Oct. 6, 2006, building on the all-community event of Convocation begun in 1991. Alumni, students and faculty are invited to be a part of this special celebratory and service-oriented day.

Mission
The mission of Blake's Convocation & Legacy Day 2006 is to strengthen and grow a sense of community at Blake by working together to make a difference and connecting the generations of our school and beyond.

How? Through PALS …
• P = PERENNIAL: establish a long-term way of thinking about the day and its activities to create a legacy of ongoing, enduring, thriving relationships and action
• A = ACTION: engage everyone in doing, in action
• L = LEGACY: celebrating and linking our alumni, students, parents and teachers
• S = SERVICE: bringing everyone together through service; connecting all with the greater community

Overview
This event will take place at the Blake campus in Hopkins. Students, teachers, staff, alumni and parent volunteers from throughout the Twin Cities and the country will come together on Friday, Oct. 6 to celebrate, connect and give back. The day will begin with Blake's now traditional Convocation ceremony (to be held in the Aamoth Stadium if weather permits or the gym, if inclement) then small "legacy groups" will gather together to work on one of four service activities to create a number of items to be given back to the greater community (see below). (Watch for service project details in the March "Parent News.") Lunch will be a legacy-family affair and provided for all participants. The event will end with a final gathering in the stadium (or gym), to celebrate the day and the connections made — and to learn a few Homecoming cheers! (Homecoming is the next day, Saturday, Oct. 7.)

A special request: we will need a number of helping hands (and heads!) to facilitate the logistics of moving nearly 2,000 people through activities and lunch. We are actively seeking volunteers for both preparation and for the day itself. If you are interested in helping out in any way, please contact us at communications@blakeschool.org.
