Our Success

Students who make the commitment to LearningWorks have proven the success of the program through their attendance and attrition. The summer program has a 97% daily attendance rate and 82% of the students who have begun the program graduate in the spring of their 8th grade year.

LearningWorks strives to self-evaluate toward the betterment of the program. Below are statistics based on program surveys completed by LearningWorks parents and students:

On anonymous evaluations:

  • 100% of parents rated the program “effective” or “very effective.”
  • 99% of students rated the program “good” or “excellent.”
  • 100% of instructors rated the program “good” or “excellent.”
  • 99% of high school and college student instructors said they are now more likely to enter the teaching field as a result of teaching at LearningWorks.

Additionally:

  • 70% of LearningWorks graduates are currently enrolled in college preparatory high school programs (which included college preparatory small learning communities in MPS high school and independent schools). 17% of LearningWorks graduates are enrolled in other public school systems in St. Paul or the suburbs, where college preparatory status is not as easily determined.
  • 12 LearningWorks graduates have returned to volunteer as teaching assistants during the School Year Program, and many more stay involved by mentoring and hosting younger LearningWorks students in high school visits. We expect to see LearningWorks graduates applying to teach in the next couple years.
