  • Leadership Academy Applications Now Available

    Hey, 2nd years -- LW is now accepting applications for Leadership Academy 2014, our optional third year program specifically designed to help you prepare for high school. The focus of this years LA is leadership training, self-advocacy skills, intra-community service, and academic preparedness. Due date is February 22. Get the application here.

  • LW's Spring SYP Dates

    Here are the remaining dates for SYP: January 11, January 25, February 8, February 22 and March 15 (Graduation for 2nd years). As a reminder, attendance for SYP is mandatory (please be ready 10 minutes EARLY for your bus). In addition, if you’re planning on taking any other mode of transportation home (i.e., riding a bike, getting picked up) you must bring a note from home and give it to a LW staff member before the first class period.

    Do you know a current Minneapolis Public School 6th grader who is looking for a supportive, fun, and academically rigorous learning environment? If so, we have good news.   • Strategic Commitments

    In the fall of 2011 the LearningWorks staff and Advisory Board solicited feedback from a representative group of LW constituents, asking them to evaluate how well we’ve served middle- school students in Minneapolis and how well we’ve engaged older students in the art of teaching. Based on the feedback, LearningWorks has committed to broadening our reach and deepening our impact in five strategic ways.

    To offer a challenging academic enrichment program to a representative group of motivated, high potential middle school students from Minneapolis Public Schools, setting them on the path to college by preparing them to enter rigorous high school programs; and

    To draw talented high school and college students into the education field by engaging them in the art of teaching.

    Founded in 2000, LearningWorks has successfully established itself as one of the preeminent programs for high-achieving middle school students seeking tuition-free summer and weekend options here in Minneapolis.
