This self-reflective piece points towards the basics of the interests most important to me. The three skeletal shapes shown in sequence are parts of and represent the whole of a drum set. They and the cymbal-like pieces in the upper left-hand and lower right-hand corners are auxiliary pieces, symbolizing the constructive and destructive nature of one’s drum set. To me, this idea is cardinal to playing and appreciating a drum set. Shown in addition are guitar strings: some unraveled, some stretched out. Again these images represent the construction of an instrument, in this case, a guitar. The circular images descending in size are the result of coins hiding the paper from light exposure. For me they signify a love for travel and exploration. Lastly, the vertical light-toned stripe in the center is included simply for variation, a quality I admire and for which I strive.
