Honoring Our Past, Preparing For The Future: The Jack Edie World Citizen Endowment Fund
|
As a 100-plus-year-old institution, The Blake School has established many wonderful traditions none better, however, than the tradition of our dedicated and inspiring faculty. In 2004, a group of alumni came together to honor one such dedicated teacher, Jack Edie, with the creation of the Jack Edie World Citizen Endowed Fund. The fund pays tribute to Edie's dedication to global education and creates an opportunity to support today's teachers and students in their pursuit of knowledge and experiences that broaden international understanding.
In the recently published strategic plan, "Blake 2010: Investing in Excellence, Committing to Community and Ensuring Effectiveness," the School affirms its commitment to the development of world citizenship and its desire to distinguish itself as "a leader locally and nationally in offering all its community members an integrated, coordinated and meaningful set of opportunities to develop themselves as effective community and world citizens." This stated commitment, coupled with the existing Jack Edie World Citizen Endowed Fund, sets the stage for an important opportunity to draw on the many strengths of the School's past while preparing today's students for the future.
A direct effort to grow the Jack Edie World Citizen Fund has recently begun. If you are interested in learning more about the fund or in volunteering your time, please contact Laura Mark at lmark@blakeschool.org or (952) 988-3439.
