2008 Track and Field Preview
|
The Blake School Track and Field team will have a new look this year as we lost several tremendous senior athletes this past year. There will be a high number of underclassmen that will have to help fill several of the events. However, the Bears will be lead this year by two strong junior girl captains, Theresa Ford and Rachel Neil, both of whom participated in the state meet last year. Some other notable girls are Caroline Ricard '10 in the hurdles and high jump, Korleki Akiti '11 in the sprints and jumps, Andrea Foss '10 in shot and pole vault, and Emma Reid '12 in the 400m.
The boys will be lead by senior captain Jeremiah Ellison who looks to contend in the 400m after several years of injuries. Stewart Richardson '09 will also help lead the boys as he specializes in the 3200m race. Paul Koullick '10 and Sean Tyree '10 in the middle distance are couple more to watch out for this year. We have some up and coming athletes in Andre Hinds '12 in the discus, Lucas Simmons'13 and Kebu Johnson '13 in the sprints and jumps, and Connor Kline '12 in the hurdles. The team will be young but look to see some strong performances by the young core of athletes. The theme for this team will be young and strong, little experience but watch out as you watch these cubs turn into mighty bears by the end of the season and in the future.
"Hard work, Fun, and Strength!"
The team is led by head coach Charlie Cracraft and assisted by Keith Clark (sprints), Raina Green (hurdles, horizontal jumps), Gary Lee (distance), Paula Sadler (high jump), and Bob Smith (shot and discus),.
