Blake spent the last three weeks of its regular season preparing for the post-season, and they apparently did it the right way.

The Bears finished the season on a 6-1 run that pumped their overall record up to 11-6 on the year.

Blake ended up 11-3 in the Tri-Metro, which was good enough for a tie for second place in the conference.

That late season run earned Blake the No. 3 seed in the bottom half of the Class 2A, Section 4 tournament.

The Bears defeated Brooklyn Center 11-1 in the section opener last Thursday, and they were slated to face Jordan May 23.

In that win, Alyssa Saunders went 3-for-3 with a double, two RBI's and two runs scored.

She also went the distance on the mound, giving up a single hit while striking out eight in the game that was shortened to five innings on a 10-run rule.

That's been a typical day for Saunders this spring. She's one of the metro area's top hitters, batting .630 and has an ERA of 2.37 and 87 strikeouts in 112 inning of work this year.

Beth Davis has also had a strong year for Blake offensively this year, batting .574 and leading the team in triples (3) and home runs (2). Mary Allen, Michael Johnson and Laura Waldman also batted over .300 for Blake this spring.
