Bowens-Rubin, Chute named to AP All-State Team; Chute Honored as Player of the Year

The Blake School senior hockey players Rachel Bowens-Rubin and Katharine Chute have been named to the 2006-2007 All-State Girls Hockey team as named by the Associated Press. This team was awarded and voted on by the statewide media.
Bowens-Rubin an honorable mention pick, recorded 11 shutouts for the Bears including a string of 6 consecutive no-nos leading up to, and into the State Tournament. Rachel played in 26 games logging 1229 minutes between the pipes for the Bears while making 458 saves and allowed only 29 goals for a 1.2 goals against average for the season.
With Rachel in the nets the Blake Bears tied a Minnesota State Hockey Tournament record for fewest goals allowed for the tournament (2) and most shutouts for the tournament (1).
Rachel is currently undecided concerning her collegiate future however she is leaning toward MIT.
Chute, a fluid forward and first team selection, has skated regular shifts with the Blake School varsity squad since her eighth grade year and lead the 2006-2007 Bears in virtually every offensive category.
In 30 games during the 2006-2007 season Katharine scored 79 points on 41 goals 38 assists averaging 2.6 points per game. She led the high-powered Bears in all of these rankings.
Chute also led The Blake School's offense during the 2007 Class A State Tournament with 2 goal and 4 assists during the 3 game classic.
Katherine has narrowed her post secondary choices to Yale, Harvard and Dartmouth.
During the announcement of the 2007 Associated Press All-State Team Katherine Chute was also honored as the AP Player of the Year.
