The Blake Bears were happy to break a three-game losing streak on Nov. 25 with a 4-2 victory. The Bears were even happier because the victory came against a quality opponent, Benilde-St. Margaret's.
After tough losses to Cretin-Derham Hall, Edina and Blaine, the Bears got three third period goals to beat the Red Knights.
Forward Katharine Chute is the team's leading goal scorer with seven at this early stage of the season. Chute's sister, Margaret, is the team's assist leader with five.
Another sister combination - Sally and Laura Komarek - have also shown their ability to score early this season.
Sally Komarek has four goals and three assists, while sister Laura has four goals and two assists.
Goaltender Rachel Bowens-Rubin has allowed 12 goals in five games and made 31 saves in the victory over Benilde.
The Bears will be back in action this Friday when they travel to Henry Sibley on Friday, Dec. 1, for a 6 p.m. start.
