Blake Ranked No. 1 in Pre-season Polls

Blake was ranked No. 1 in pre-season polls, and two games into the season, the Bears are doing their best to justify that ranking.

Blake has been matched up with a pair of AA schools from the Classic Lake Conference to start the season, and so far, the Bears have faired well.

They topped Minnetonka 3-1 to open the season, then last weekend, the Bears skated to a 2-2 draw with Edina.

Five different players have already scored a goal for Blake, and nine have recorded a point.

Berit Johnson and Clare Zutz combined for 108 points last year. Katharine Chute had 43 a year ago.

Blake brings back seven of its top-nine scorers from last season's team that went 18-7-3 before bowing out to eventual Class A state champion Holy Angels in the Section 4A semifinals.

One place Blake isn't experienced is in goal, but through two games, it hasn't shown. Rachel Bowens-Rubin has allowed just three goals in the Bears two games against Class AA competition.
