Questions?
Each and every season bring questions. Community members, administrators, parents, players, and, of course, coaches all have questions. This season, 2006-2007, there are more than ever. As first-year head coach Greg Heinecke takes the helm, what will the season bring? While Heinecke brings with him knowledge and experience both personally and among his coaching staff members, the question that arises is "What will the team look like that steps onto the floor?"
Life on the hardwood will not be easy in the Tri-Metro. The off-season has created those many questions, but with those questions come much excitement and anticipation. The Bears are optimistic about the possibilities. Five returning seniors (captain Mary Angela Curran, Laney Austin, Avery Brown, Beth Davis, and Jess Owens) and a junior class (captain Claire Goebel, Kaylee Britain, Sarah Carpenter, Lilian Conover, Rachel Engel, and Sarah Hoops) that seems to always "leave it on the floor" night after night will be the core of this year's squad. There is also great expectation that some of the younger talent will step up to elevate their games and contribute to what looks to be a good season ahead.
While most agree that the Bears work hard, some question if they can play an up-tempo game. Many wonder if the girls can compete at a higher level and for a higher level in the conference. Coach Heinecke believes they can, and he knows that they assuredly "will do what must be done" on the defensive side. He states, "We will compete every night," demonstrating that the Bears are a team and will play like one.
There are so many questions. Come watch a game or two; see if any of the questions get answered!
