Kathy SandvenThe Blake School's head girl's basketball coach Kathy Sandven has announced her resignation after 5 years at the helm of the program. Kathy's positive, professional approach to the game and her untiring enthusiasm are hallmarks of her coaching style and her unflagging commitment to the developing good women, who happen to play basketball well, will most certainly be missed.

Kathy has decided to leave the Blake Bears to concentrate on raising her young sons. All three boys were born during Sandven's Blake tenure, the oldest being just over three years old.

Prior to her arrival at Blake, Sandven was assistant athletic director and head women's basketball coach at Concordia College in Moorhead, MN.

"Kathy is an excellent basketball coach," says Blake assistant athletic director Rick Johns. "Whenever there is a local DIII job opening Kathy Sandven's name is always on the short list of candidates. I do feel however, that her talents and ambition shouldn't be limited confines of a basketball court, she is a very talented administrator," finishes Johns.

Athletic Director Rollie Johnson said, "I would like to thank Kathy for her commitment and effort over the past five years. She has touched the lives of so many athletes throughout her tenure at Blake. I have thoroughly enjoyed getting to know her, I value our friendship, and I wish her the very best in all future endeavors."

Coach Sandven, we wish you and your family our best. Thank you for your dedication to our athletes, program, and school.
