Blake's Dooley Punches in Seven Goals Ty Rushmeyer - Lakeshore Weekly News

Totino-Grace held back the Blake boys' lacrosse team like a dam struggling to contain a rushing river Thursday, May 1.
But the small crack that appeared nearly 15 minutes into the contest eventually busted wide open and the powerful rush that is the Bears' offensive attack rolled over the Eagles to the tune of a 12-4 win.
Totino-Grace's goalie Ryan Zeilinger made quality saves throughout the night but could offer only so much resistance to the unrelenting attack of Blake, particularly senior attacker Kip Dooley's arsenal of shots.
Dooley, a 2007 All-American, finished the game with seven goals, a personal best, and two assists.
Despite the blowout win, the Bears (9-0) faced some adversity early as the Eagles went up 2-0 thanks to a Zach Van Horne goal at 4:11 followed by Eric Louiselle's at 7:25.
Head coach Rob Horn said the lack of intensity from his team was clear in the early going.
"The first goal we got caught in transition. The second goal they just made a great play. But that's the great thing about this game, it's a long game. And two goals is not a huge hole at all," he said. "I knew we could battle back but we need a little more fire sometimes. We face adversity very well but we got to stop putting ourselves in those types of situations."
Kip Dooley put the first of his seven goals in at 9:27 of the first quarter. Zeilinger made a number of fantastic saves throughout the first quarter to help the Eagles hold a 2-1 advantage after one. His strong play continued into the second quarter but he couldn't stop Dooley's acrobatic behind-the-back shot to tie things up at 2-2.
Dooley said the situation forced him to attempt the unconventional shot.
"If was just kind of a cluttered play. There were a lot of guys stuck in front of the crease. I was looking for a pass and it wasn't there," he said. "I really didn't have a good angle for a normal shot so I just dumped it behind the back."
Horn said he had no issues with the flashy play.
"If you're going to make it look pretty make it go in," he said. "That was a fine shot. He's smart. He knows what shots to take and when to take them."
Dooley struck again just over a minute later to make it 3-2. Fellow captain Jordan Seivold smoked one past Zeilinger at 5:06 before Dooley punched in two more at 7:00 and 7:39 to give him five goals for the half and Blake a 6-2 halftime lead.
Dooley said the team responded well to the early lull.
"We were a bit complacent and not really working hard for the ball and I think there were some mental mistakes," he said. "But after they scored those two goals we called a timeout and got together and started winning ground balls and faceoffs and that's the most important thing. Sometimes it's hard to get fired up for every game but it's something we have to change."
Blake poured in three more goals in the third quarter, two by George Ordway at 1:46 and 4:33 and another by Dooley at 11:55 to put the Bears up 9-2 heading into the final quarter.
Blake's Blake Dressen punched in his first goal of the night at 0:55, Ordway his third at 2:18 and Dooley his seventh at 8:33. Totino-Grace managed to put two goals in the books in the fourth on a Mike Feldstein score at 6:49 and an own goal by the Bears' goalie Grant Dressen.
Horn said Dooley is a great player but added that all four captains, including Seivold, Peter Johnson and Blake Dressen play a huge role in leading the team.
"Kip's a special player. You can tell in the way he leads, the way he sees the field and how he helps pick up his teammates when we're sometimes emotionally flat. That's what leaders do," he said. "But the other captains out there really add to that. Kip might get the points but it's a four-headed monster and they all contribute in a big way."
