McMahon Commits to St. Olaf Hockey

The Blake School senior Sean McMahon has committed to play NCAA Division III Hockey at St. Olaf College beginning in the fall of 2008.

McMahon has been a member of the Blake varsity hockey team since his sophomore year, and is a three-time Blake Hockey letter winner. McMahon registered 5 goals and 9 assists, for 14 points, during the 2007-08 season, and was recognized with the team's 'Most Improved Player' award at the end of season banquet. McMahon scored the 3rd goal of the 2008 Section 2A Championship game, which turned out to be the game-winning goal (5-2 final) over Breck, sending Blake to the 2008 MSHSL State Hockey Tournament. McMahon is a three-time participant in the Minnesota State High School League Hockey Tournament.

St. Olaf's hockey team finished the 2007-08 season at 9-12-4. The team is coached by Sean Goldsworthy. Former Blake goaltending instructor, Steve DeBus, is also a member of the St. Olaf coaching staff. St. Olaf is a member of the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC).
