Blake Boys' Hockey Team Advances to Section Final

The Blake Boys' Hockey Team defeated Holy Family/Waconia 4-3 on Tuesday, February 26th to advance to the Section 2A Final and a chance to return to the state tournament. The Bears took a 3-1 lead in the first period on goals by Blake Dressen '08, Harrison Blankenship '09, and Josh Birkholz '09, but Holy Family/Waconia was able to rally and tie the score 3-3 in the second period. The Bears claimed the victory when Jordan Seivold '08 broke the tie and scored to win 4-3 with 2:58 left in the game.
The Bears will face conference rival Breck in the Section 2A Final on Thursday, February 28th at 7:30pm at the Parade Ice Gardens. Blake and Breck have met twice this season with a victory going to each team. Blake defeated Breck 5-1 on January 29th and most recently, Breck avenged their loss on February 16th, beating Blake 4-1.
The Section 2A Final will be broadcast on www.mnsportsnetwork.com. Some section games will also be broadcast on KNOF 95.3FM.
The winner of the Section 2A game will begin play in the Minnesota State High School League State Tournament on March 5th at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul, MN.
