Barnes commits to Army

The Blake School senior hockey player Jack Barnes has committed to play NCAA Division I Hockey at the United States Military Academy (Army - West Point) beginning in the fall of 2008.
Barnes has been a member of the Blake varsity hockey team since his freshman year and is a three-time letter winner. In his junior season Barnes was Tri-Metro All-Conference selection with 12 goals and 19 assists. Barnes is a two-time participant in the Minnesota State High School League Hockey Tournament and will lead the Bears as captain of the 2007-2008 squad.
The Army hockey team finished the 2006-2007 season at 19-12-5 and advanced to the finals of the Atlantic Hockey Tournament. The team is head coached by Brian Riley who took over the team in 2004 and is only the third Army hockey coach is the past 57 years. Riley was preceded in coaching by his older brother Rob and father Jack. Riley is a two-time Atlantic Hockey "Coach of the Year" award winner.
Army is a member of the Atlantic Hockey Conference which includes opponents: Air Force, American International, Bentley, Canisius, Connecticut, Holy Cross, Mercyhurst, Rochester Institute of Technology and Sacred Heart.
