The rosters for the 26th annual Ted Brill Great 8 All-Star Hockey Festival were announced recently, and representatives from six Sun-Sailor area schools will take part in the three-day tournament.

Eight teams made up of 136 players will hit the ice Friday, March 30, at Wakota Arena in South St. Paul.

Two of those teams have area connections.

The biggest influx of area players and coaches will be with the Teal team made up of Sections 6A and 6AA.

That team, which will be coached by Hopkins' Chad Nyberg and Dick Emahiser as well as Orono's Brad Ryan and Ken Eddie, has seven area players competing.

They are: Kyle Reagan and Jack Paul of Minnetonka, Westy Nelson of Hopkins, Adam Randall and Taylor Peterson of Orono and Aaron Shibrowski and Stephen Carew of Benilde-St. Margaret's.

Minnetonka head coach Ken Pauly will manage the team.

John Hamre, head coach at Blake, will coach the Orange team made up of players from Sections 5A and 5AA.

Mike Louwerse and Steve Steinhauser, who both played this past season for Hamre at Blake, will play on that team.

Breck defensemen John Aho will also be member of the Orange team.

The Teal team opens its tournament at 8:30 p.m. Friday against the White team, which is comprised of players from Sections 3AA and 2A.

The Orange teams gets the Gray team, which is made up of players from Sections 4A and 4AA, at 6:30 p.m. Friday.

Wayzata's Alex Fong declined an invitation to play for the Gray team.

The tournament semifinals are slated for 1 and 3:30 p.m. Saturday, and the final will be played at 2:30 p.m. Sunday.

Following the tournament, 20 players that do not have firm Division I commitments will be selected to represent Minnesota at the 24-team national high school hockey Chicago Showcase April 18-22.

Team Minnesota has won that tournament seven of the last 10 years.
