Welcome Donors!

To offer your support to this life-changing program, please contact Program Director Scott Flemming at 952-988-3780 or sflemming@blakeschool.org. Thank you!

Minneapolis Public Schools and The Blake School provide some support to the program. To complete our operating budget, we need to raise about $200,000 each year. We can only do this with your help. There are many ways to support LearningWorks, including monetary gifts, in-kind support, and donor-advised gifts through foundations.

Charlson Foundation Issues Challenge Grant
LearningWorks is pleased to announce that The Charlson Foundation has issued a challenge grant, which will match new and incremental donations dollar-for-dollar up to $25,000. Current donors qualify for the match with any funds that exceed their largest gift in any previous year. As we enter the 2008 Summer Program with a record 120 students and 25 faculty members, this powerful opportunity will help LearningWorks expand its donor base to support this growth.

We are also delighted to announce that The Medtronic Foundation has awarded LearningWorks a two-year $20,000 grant for general operations.

Financial Donations

Currently, we are raising funds for our 2007-2008 fiscal year to match the proposed program budget. Our students are committed to completing two fulfilling years in LearningWorks, and we are committed to having the resources to provide that for them.

You can help provide two years of programming for one student for $2,500. Or you can provide $10 to buy a copy of a novel for English class. We welcome gifts of any size. We also welcome underwriting for program events.

Donor-advised Gifts

You can support LearningWorks through established donor-advised funds at foundations including United Way, the Minneapolis Foundation, and the Minnesota Community Foundation. Also check with your employer about matching your gift to LearningWorks.

In-Kind Donations

In-kind gifts include goods, commodities, and services rather than money. LearningWorks relies heavily on the donation of goods and services. Many of our resources including office space, administrative support, student meals, student transportation, our semi-annual newsletter design, and classroom supplies are made possible by generous organizations and individuals who recognize the power of LearningWorks.

Some items on our wish list are:
Gift Certificates for program supplies, student awards, and office supplies. Suitable businesses include Target, Best Buy, Office Max, bookstores,
grocery stores, etc.
Pro bono printing services
Non-perishable, healthy snacks
Tickets to local events

Endowment Contributions

Gifts specifically designated to the LearningWorks endowment are always welcomed. While our annual fundraising is vital to meeting the budget needs of the program each year, the LearningWorks endowment is a key part of the long-term success of the program. With sufficient funds in the endowment, the LearningWorks staff could focus more on serving the needs of our students, and less on meeting financial needs each year.

The Need for LearningWorks is great. Please consider making a contribution to LearningWorks. No donation is too small. Check to see if your employer will add a matching contribution to yours. To find out more about LearningWorks go to our Program Highlights page.
