Welcome to LearningWorks:
A Breakthrough Program!

LearningWorks offers a tuition-free academic enrichment program to highly motivated, traditionally underserved students enrolled in Minneapolis Public Schools, preparing them to enter rigorous high school programs. High school and college students gain insight into careers in education through teaching positions in the program.

We invite you to explore this site and learn more about the program, including our students, our teachers, and our community.

  • Patrick Barry Leaving LW to Teach English
    After seven years of extraordinary service to LW, Communications and Programs Director Patrick Barry will be leaving his administrative duties at the end of the Summer Program to take on additional English teaching responsibilities at Blake this fall. Read more here.
  • Visit the LW Summer Program
    All Blake Community Members are invited to LearningWorks this summer. The best way to experience LW is to see for yourself! Visitor Day dates Wednesday July 9, 16, and 23 at the Blake Upper School (Northrop Campus) in Minneapolis.

  • Position Opening: Alumni & Programs Director
    LW is looking to hire an Alumni and Programs Director. This position is primarily responsible for alumni relations and programming, non-academic summer and school-year programming, event planning, and online community building. Read more on how to apply at Job Opportunities.
  • Charlson Foundation Issues Challenge Grant
    LearningWorks is pleased to announce that The Charlson Foundation has issued a challenge grant, which will match new and incremental donations dollar-for-dollar up to $25,000. Current donors qualify for the match with any funds that exceed their largest gift in any previous year. As we enter the 2008 Summer Program with a record 120 students and 25 faculty members, this powerful opportunity will help LearningWorks expand its donor base to support this growth.

    We are also delighted to announce that The Medtronic Foundation has awarded LearningWorks a two-year $20,000 grant for general operations.

  • LW student wins state Geography Bee!
    LearningWorks student, Cody DuBois, won the state Geography Bee at Macalster College on Friday, April 4. He will now go on to compete in the National Geography Bee in Washington D.C. for a chance to receive a $25,000 college scholarship for taking home the national title. Cody's achievements were featured in a Star Tribune article, which you can read in full here: Minneapolis 7th grader knows his way around the globe.
