Center for Diversity Mission and Goals
|
Mission: The Blake School Center for Diversity empowers the Blake community to become the representative, welcoming, and multicultural community it aspires to be. The Center for Diversity hopes to celebrate the current richness and future possibility of Blake becoming a model of pluralism by questioning the status quo, facilitating and encouraging community participation in diversity initiatives, empowering others to lead diversity initiatives, building leadership capacity across the community, and encouraging community members to move outside of their current comfort zone.
Goals:
|
- Understand the current climate of Blake with respect to diversity at all three divisional levels and across the community including staff, faculty, students, and parents.
- Maintain past programming to instill confidence in the community that the Center for Diversity is fully functional regardless of transition.
- Have consistent contact with students on all 3 campuses.
- Establish the Center for Diversity as a place for students of all backgrounds to seek support, advice, and advocacy.
- Provide opportunities for faculty, staff, and administration to continue their professional development in the field of diversity.
- Understand all relevant systems and the culture of Blake.
