Ghosts Don't Climb Stairs
Black and White Silver Print
This photo uses the rule of vanishing presence. In it you can see a girl walking up a staircase, but after the starting position it's just the ghost of a girl. I had some difficulty finding the right exposure in the dark room and finding out how to get the right balances of black and white. But I didn't want to give up on the print because I really like this photo. To me, it gives off an eerie feeling and that kind of goes along with the ghost-like quality of vanishing presence. In the end, I'm glad that the picture ended up being darker because it adds to the dark, scariness of it all. When I actually took the photograph, I was just experimenting to see if it would work out. It took some work, but I'm satisfied with the end product.
