Inside Out
Black and White Silver Print
This print is following the photography rules of symmetry. The window and the bricks around it are completely symmetrical, while the outside edges provide contrast. The right side is plain wall and the far left is a variety of different things, providing the sliver of a view. I thought this was interesting because while the main part of the picture appears symmetrical, if you look at the print as a whole there's a sense of imbalance almost with the darkness on the far left and lightness on the far right. I also think it's interesting because you see more than just the window and the wall. First, you see into the room past the window. Second, you see the reflection of the outside railing and the photographer. This fact gives the picture depth and a sense of meaning. I had a lot of fun messing around with this photograph and getting the right light balance to accommodate all the details.
