Girl
Black and White Silver Print
This is a picture of my friend, Meredith. Although I know her, and I know what she's like, my intention with the picture was for you, the viewer, to see just a girl. To you, she is just a girl, sitting at a desk, reading a magazine. She appears to be completely alone. I chose to have her sitting at a small table by herself because that's how I wanted her to appear. Alone. The people in the background are just there. It appears obvious that they are in no way connected to her. This girl seems introverted and separated, in her own world almost. But isn't that only what you see on the outside? Maybe she's actually a really fun person who loves to be around others and today she just needs some peace and quiet. Maybe those people in the background are her best friends, but she feels like being alone for a while. Or, maybe she really is how she seems; introverted and quiet. Don't you see? You can't tell what someone's like just by looking.
