Education, Believe
INK on Paper
This print had many steps involved in it. First, our class went to the Sculpture Garden to the Jenny Holzer exhibit and chose words on the sculpted benches that had significance to us. We then used China markers and did rubbings of these words on paper. After that, we made film positives of our words and decided how they would all go together in a sentence. The words I chose were "education" and "believe". We also chose what colors to use for each pair of words in the sentence. After getting our screens ready to print, we took single pieces of paper and each group printed their words onto the paper to create the sentence. The sentence contained everyone's individual words with their own colors, as we focused on the theme for the entire course "Bits and pieces put together to form a semblance of a whole", by Lawrence Weiner.
