When We Were Young
Black and White Silver Print
The intention for this shooting assignment was to shoot motion. When I thought of motion, I immediately thought about younger children and how they are on the move. What a better place to capture the motion of a child than a playground! I took many photographs of my younger brother while he was on a swing. The swing provided a perfect opportunity for me to practice panning in the direction of the swing. In this photograph, I used panning which created a look where the background is a blur while my younger brother on the swing is in critical focus, which gives the photograph sort of a surreal feeling. Shooting this assignment brought me back to when I was young and I realized that it was not so long ago. Hold on to the important things because life can be a blur.
