The Use of Motion
Black and White Silver Print
The purpose of this shoot is to teach us how to use motion is our photographs as an art form, not as a bad thing. Sometimes it is appropriate for motion to be playing a role in our work to help portray our intentions in capturing our photograph. Other times, it is the intention of the photographer to use a fast shutter speed to capture a moving object in space and have it be a sharp image. We had to use panning to capture the center of the image in shape focus by moving the camera at the same speed as the object. This will make the object be in focus and all of the background to be blurry. We could also use a technique where we held the camera still and took the picture when the moving object was moving through the viewfinder. This causes the object to be blurry and the background to be in sharp focus.
