Time and Sky
Black and White Silver Print
I took my motion photographs during class one day, capturing images of skateboarders, cars, trees, and people, but when I developed the shots I discovered that none of them were really on par, and they were all out of focus or over/under exposed. So when I chose a photograph to develop I decided to do the closest to focus picture I could, one of a car. Mr. Teslow disagreed with me, saying I should print what was probably the least focused, most ambiguous photo. I thought this was strange to do, but he had me use a 3.5 filter for the print, and when it was developed, I found this photograph is one of the most intriguing ones I have ever taken. I love the way you can see time passing while not being able to tell what it is in the photograph, and the way the sky looks to be etched onto the picture gives a dreamlike effect. Although at first I disagreed with this photograph, I now enjoy it more than almost all of the others I have printed this year.
