This is a photograph from the Up Close and Personal project, which we were assigned to complete over spring break. I originally took photographs of strangers, which is what we were supposed to do, but then I discovered I had not taken the pictures correctly and had no time to go out and take pictures of strangers again before our project deadline. Because of this I took pictures of friends throughout school; this particular picture being of Thomas Engel. When I took the photograph I wanted to pay particular attention to light, because I did not have outdoor, but indoor light. The light in the picture appears to be coming from below the model, and this is in a way true. The overhead indoor lights were reflecting off of the table, resulting in a very appealing shadow affect on the model's face.
