Not Beyond the Wall
Black and White Silver Print

This picture is taken outside of my house, of a wall. On top of the wall balance pots filled with stones. When I took this picture, I took it in a series of similar pictures. They all used the same strong horizontal line, the top of the wall. All the pictures were taken with that line placed in a horizontal third, in horizontal and vertical formats. Of all the pictures, I thought I would like this one the least because so much of the picture was of the wall and not very much of it was of the interesting background behind it. However, I ended up choosing it, because it emphasized the rule of thirds. Although it focuses on the simple wall instead of the more important, bigger city things that lay beyond it, that is just a reminder to focus on the simple things and not get caught in the rush of the city.
