Horse in the City
Black and White Silver Print

For this assignment, I was shooting from the hip, a technique in which one took a starting point and then walks around taking pictures without looking through the lens. When shooting from the hip I was looking for reflections in the city. I found this advertisement and was intrigued by the flower petals floating on the top of the picture. I also could see the power lines in the picture and thought that it created a powerful image of the horse, a creature that is often associated with the wilderness, running through power lines, that are often associated with the city and civilization. The combination of these two things wild and civilization are very important especially in this time where everyone is moving to fast and not taking time to stop and look at what might be in the reflections.
