A Blur of Motion
Black and White Silver Print

Although this picture does not show the detail of what this biker is wearing or even his or her facial expression, this photograph gives a sense of motion that a focused photograph would not. It almost has a ghostly effect that gives the biker a presence but not an identity. I chose to use a high number filter in this photograph to erase most of the gray tones. Because this photo is in such a blur, a high contrast makes the biker a bit more of the central point and focus of the photo. The high contrast also gives the photo a more expressive rather than descriptive quality. It is almost as if the biker has branches growing out of its back, maybe trying to blend in with the scenery of trees behind him or her.
