Box of Stamps
Stamp Print on Paper

This project seemed like a bit of a side project in our class. We had been working on, up to this point, big prints on paper using a screen, paint and a squeegee. But in this project we used a rubbery stamp to print repeating designs. We also made a big print as a class with all of our stamps. To make our stamps we cut a rectangle of rubbery material in to twelve pieces. Then we passed them around the whole class and everyone made a mark and each of the stamps that came around. So the result was a random design that you had no control over. We then were given a few days to mess around and make designs. I just made this without putting much planning into it, it was spontaneous. The one thing that I did think about was the overlapping design, I had tried it out on a piece of scratch paper and really liked how it turned out and gave it depth. This was a fun project to do, it had almost zero limitations. We were free to innovate on our own.
