Homegrown
Black and White Silver Print

This photo is of two homegrown tomatoes, freshly picked from our garden. This picture was taken looking down and from the right of the tomatoes. I was trying to give this picture more depth of field, but the bottom left hand corner turned out darker than I imagined it to. I tried decreasing the exposure time, this left the photograph to light, I also tried to dodge the bottom left corner, but I was not able to get a distinct edge around the tomato, sure it was lighter, but still not distinguishable as an edge.

This photograph was meant to show that life in itself is very important, and we are to treat it with care. You can do all you can to make a tomato grow, but it is up to the seed, to grow.

This photograph relates to life today because it is showing the "organic" and "fresh produce" nonsense that farmers are making up to make people pay more for their fruits and veggies.

This photograph symbolizes that you can do anything if you put your mind to it. Sure, growing a tomato is not tough, plant, water, pick. However, it is remembering to water it every day, and remembering to put netting around it so small animals cannot eat them. It is the time and effort put into doing something yourself, that makes doing it yourself fun.
