Ashes and Leaves Suspended in Gloss Acrylic Overprint Varnish
For my alternative ink print I used an image of a waterfall printed in ashes. My grandfather's ashes were thrown into a waterfall this made having the image be a waterfall important and personally meaningful. To complete the rest of the print, the flora surrounding the waterfall was printed in the extract of leaves produced by using a motor and pestle, along with the use of a blender. This manner of working with alternative inks followed my understanding of how Ed Ruscha used alternative inks in his artwork. The title of this piece is a nickname my grandfather received from his fellow citizens of Le Sueur, Minnesota.
