Laura
Black and White Silver Print
I met Laura on my spring break in San Jose, California. My dad knew her family from work and I got to meet three children around my age. While I was taking these pictures I was able to talk to them, and I got to know them better. Behind Laura are photographs of her family, showing the children as they grow up. I had trouble adjusting shutter speed on this role of film, so all of my pictures turned out blurry. This was not my intention, but because this photograph turned out blurry, it captures Laura's motion better. You can tell just by her gesture that she is playing pool. The rest of the photograph looks like it has been moved, so the main focus is motion. It makes sense in the context of this photograph. I did not use any filter for my final print because there is so much going on with motion. No small details needed to be brought out. I also had to burn in a reflection of light on one picture in the photograph.
